HELLO,
I'm Kris Montoya. I’m a New Mexican weaver, and I create in the Rio Grande style — a tradition that’s been part of this region for centuries. For me, weaving isn’t just about making textiles. It’s about rhythm, patience, and carrying forward something bigger than myself.
I love the way the loom feels under my hands — the steady beat, the way colors come together thread by thread. The stripes and patterns in my work are inspired by the land I grew up with: desert sunsets, mountains on the horizon, the flowing Rio Grande.
started weaving because I wanted to connect to tradition and make something real, something lasting. Now it’s become a way of grounding myself, telling stories through wool, and sharing a piece of New Mexico with others.
Thanks for stopping by and supporting this craft. My hope is that each piece I make brings warmth, beauty, and a little sense of history into your home.
